It’s not goodbye ...

When we began planning our first Kidsake Day in 1999 the idea of holding a child safety event at Richmond Auto Mall was a novel, if somewhat unconventional, idea. We all asked ourselves whether families would come and spend the day in dealerships’ parking lots.

Over the years our little event grew and changed – eventually becoming BC’s largest child safety and wellness day. Our success was due, in large part, to the community groups, sponsors and volunteers that worked to bring you the information that you wanted and needed. And our success was also due to you, the attendees. Without your participation every year we would not have been able to put 9 years under our belt.

So, it is with mixed feelings that we announce that last year’s Kidsake Day was our final one. We continue to believe that there is great value in supporting children’s programs but have come to believe that there are other ways for us to do this more effectively at this time – and on an ongoing basis – within our community. We are currently exploring new opportunities and that is where we will be focusing our energies going forward.

While it sounds like goodbye, it isn’t. We’ll be seeing you again soon!
